This isn't a design opinion — every number below is a real measurement of the live site this week, checked against Google's own published research and independent industry benchmarks. The backend platform in this document is only half the fix. The public site is the other half, and it's currently working against every other thing this platform does well.
Real path, walked this week: homepage → course listing → CTA choice → Shopify product page → cart → checkout → confirmation → a separate enrolment form. Eight visitor-facing steps across three unconnected systems, before a learner is actually enrolled.
The platform in this document already solves the backend half — one enrolment record, no re-keying, compliance captured at the source. The front-end is the other half of the same fix: one fast, single-domain path from "interested" to "enrolled," hosted on the same Cloudflare edge network as everything else in this document, with no separate Wix bill and no Shopify transaction cut. Included in the build — this isn't a second project.

Every integration decision follows one test: does this system carry a real regulatory relationship or specialist logic — or is it just a database with a subscription attached?
SELMA (the actual NZQA/TEC system of record — SDR format, NSI/NSN access), Cloud Assess (assessment engine, moderation workflow), Xero (GST, IRD-regulated ledger), HubSpot (CRM — free tier's API already does the job, confirmed, no upgrade needed). These carry real domain complexity or an external relationship with a regulator. Not worth rebuilding, ever.
Wix (CMS + contact form) and Shopify (product catalogue + checkout state) were charging monthly rent for something that's fundamentally rows in a database and a payment page. Cloudflare D1 + Stripe direct does the identical job for cents, with zero re-keying between systems and zero platform transaction cut.
Every hour automation removes from re-keying, chasing, and manually checking is an hour a real staff member spends on the part of the job that actually needs a human — a call to an at-risk learner, a real conversation with a school, catching a compliance gap before it's a finding, not after.
